My best friend and I love Taiyaki, which is a Japanese fish-shaped cake usually filled with red bean. We get custard filling and we eat so many, even though it hurts our wheat-sensitive stomachs. I love how we bond over sharing snacks, so this was representative of our friendship.

The inspiration for this image was majorly the fall and the approaching school year. I imagine the girl is saying “See ya later” to the Summer and carries all her thoughts, memories, creativity, and determination in her backpack as she arrives on the first day of school. This heavily reminds me of when I was younger, and the “butterflies in the stomach” feeling I had every time I entered this period of my life.
